Obama supporters, let's honor the values of community and helping others, not let it be denigrated and dragged through the mud. Grassroots organization Obama Works has called for a National Day of Service. Sign up and get involved! Be sure to wear your Obama T-shirts.
Friends,
When I sent out our first newsletter in March of this year, it went out to grand total of 42 people. We had a tiny website, a few people who were interested - and one big idea.
Tomorrow, on our National Day of Service, we will have nearly as many events as we had subscribers to that first newsletter. In 13 states, Obama Works and Democrats Work members will come together at 30 events to improve our communities and send a powerful message: Senator Obama inspires Americans to follow his example of service to his community and country.
And when I say that "we" will send that message, I mean it: none of this would have been possible without you. There is no Obama Works central headquarters, there is no paid staff and there are certainly no lobbyists. You are our staff, our field organizers and our spokespeople. So: thank you. It's going to be a great Day of Service tomorrow and that's because of your work.
You can find an event near you here: http://obamaworks.org/involved.html. Please join us tomorrow - we needed you to get this far, and we still do. With your help - and only with your help - we'll make a difference across the country.
Over the next four years, what will matter is not which candidate can smear the other guy the most, or run the most negative ads this election season. What will matter is which candidate can help our country understand, grapple with and overcome the challenges of the 21st century. Senator Obama is such a candidate, and with your help, we're going to prove it.
Together, we can.
Paul Selker
