Websites like Hillaryis44.org are threatening to vote for John McCain rather than Barack Obama. I understand the anger and disappointment, but do they even know John McCain's voting record on the issues?
Here is a list of John McCain's voting record on women's issues from Women for Barack Obama.
Click here if you want a comprehensive listing of Barack Obama's legislation on women's rights.
(UPDATE: If you want to read about how John McCain treats the women in his life, i.e., his ex-wife, click here. If you're not interested in personal drama, just ignore.)
McCain has voted consistently against women's health, and he supports overturning the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Roe v. Wade. Following is a summary of his positions on women's issues.Sphere: Related Content
McCain Opposed Equal Pay Bill for Women, Said They ‘Need Education and Training’ Instead. McCain skipped a vote on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that would ensure women have the opportunity to recover back pay for discrimination once they discover it. If he had been there to vote, he said he would have voted against it and that women “need education and training” rather than an equal pay bill. The bill addressed a recent Supreme Court decision that said Steelworker Lilly Ledbetter could not recover back pay for 19 years of discrimination at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. because she had not discovered the unequal pay until she retired. The bill would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to allow employees to file charges of pay discrimination within 180 days of the last received paycheck affected by the discrimination. McCain Voted to Gut the Family and Medical Leave Act. In 1993, before finally voting for the Family and Medical Leave Act, McCain voted to jeopardize leave for millions of workers by gutting the bill. He voted to suspend the Family and Medical Leave Act unless the federal government certified that compliance would not increase business expenses or provide financial assistance to businesses to cover any related costs. McCain opposed legislation requiring that abstinence-only programs be medically accurate and scientifically based.
McCain voted NO on legislation that would help reduce the number of teen pregnancies by providing funding for programs to teach comprehensive, medically accurate sexuality education and other programs to prevent unintended teen pregnancies.
McCain opposed Title X, the nation's family planning program.
In 1990, McCain voted NO on legislation to extend the Title X federal family planning program, which provides low-income and uninsured women and families with health care services ranging from breast and cervical cancer screening to birth control.
McCain opposed requiring insurance coverage of prescription birth control.
In 2003, McCain voted NO on legislation to improve the availability of contraceptives for women and to require insurance coverage of prescription birth control.

In an interview aboard the "Straight Talk Express," McCain struggled to answer questions about comprehensive sex education and HIV prevention. He also stated that he supported "the president's policy" on sex education.
McCain unsure where he stands on government funding for contraception.
"Whether I support government funding for them or not, I don't know," McCain said about contraceptives.
McCain opposed repealing the "global gag rule."
In 2005, McCain voted NO on legislation to overturn the "global gag rule," which bars foreign nongovernmental organizations from receiving U.S. family planning assistance if the organization (using its own, non-U.S. funds) provides abortion services or information or advocates for pro-choice laws and policies in its own country.
McCain supports overturning Roe v. Wade.
In February 2007, the AP quoted McCain stating, "I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned." In May 2007, he reiterated his desire to overturn Roe v. Wade during an appearance on Meet the Press stating, "My position has been consistently in my voting record, pro-life, and I continue to maintain that position and voting record."

This is why I'm voting for McCain!
Any woman who votes for McCain has got a screw loose.
tear off your nose to spite your face
McCain is a notorious sexist.
Look at the treatment of the women in his life, Carol his ex-wife who he dumped after she was disfigured from an automobile accident. If you want to see how a candidate or politican votes/acts for womens behalf just take a good look at his personal life and his relationships with women. Does any more need to be said? I would of voted for Hillary, but now I clearly must vote for Barack. Any feminist who feels differently needs to look at McCain's horrid behaviour towards Carol, and his voting record that says he is no friend or supporter of our interests.
Thanks for compiling this record - how scary. Now how do we get this out to all those Dems who say they're going to vote for McCain?
Copy, paste, and email to all your friends!
I'm a women who's voting for McCain and this is just some of the reasons. There's no way in God's "green earth" I would EVER vote for Obama. If Hillary would have won I would not have voted for McCain because I don't care for him but now that Obama has won the nomination. McCain has my vote-sad but true.
As a woman, I find that to be completely self-sabotaging and shot-sighted.
I suppose then, that you don't vote on the issues, or that you're not a Democrat. Because if you are a woman and are voting on the issues, not just on the personality, there's no way you'd ever vote for John McCain.

Wait a second. So you're a bigot and a hypocrite? You do realize Hilary supports the things McCain opposed here, right? and you want to give him your vote because now you're in favor of this stuff?
You're a rotten excuse for a person, or a Republican blog-spammer. One and the same.

Let me get this straight, you would rather vote for McCain who's views are opposite those of Clinton's instead of Barack Obama, whose views are similar, just better:P?
There is no feasible reason for this, unless(not trying to stir the pot here) you're racist. That's pretty shameful.
Typical smears from the Liberal Elite Bias Media. John McCain has LOTS of experience with women, and if you're looking for women's issues, John McCain has got TONS of issues! John McCain will win when voters go to the polls in January. Never surrender!

Buddy Any self respecting woman voting for John McCain is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders...calling his current wife a "trollop c--t" after she teased him about his thinning hair, should be enough,,,but,we must remember, the tolerance for right wing hypocrisy has no bounds,,it is in many of their supporters DNA.
McCain is a latent mysoginist, his female supporters deserve what they get.

Women should be aware that John McCain is a self proclaimed wife beater..
Although he said he just stopped with his pathological spousal abuse ONLY 2 WEEKS AGO!!
here's the news articles

I feel very bad for Cindy and she should be aware that there are support groups out there for her..
There are no women that would or should support someone who openly admits to beating his wife.. and John McCain should seek therapy.
As an Englishman inspired by Obama's Iowa speech -seems a long time ago - what is there to discuss? Obama has the makings of a great President who can restore America's reputation in the world. No Republican should be trusted either with your economy or the civilised world -and Mccain seems dimmer than most.
The only thing that disappoints me about Obama is some backsliding on Israel -until America sorts out this one there'll be no peace in the world. Cantab.
ok. i think we do need a change. and it would be nice to have a black president for a change. but obama? thats crazy. i want a president who loves this counrty. not one who refuses to wear the american flag pin. i understand that one should show their patriotism for the country based on themselves but whats wrong with wearing the pin??? and he thinks there are 57 states???? wow! incredible. he wont even put his hand over his heart for the pledge. c'mon now. this guy hates this country. hes only going after presidency for popularity. what a sad country it will be if he becomes our next president. his friends are shaaaaaaaaaaaaaady! you guys are complaining about how mccain treats women but c'mon have you heard ludacris' song. obama loves it! he loves snoop dogg and luda and all that crap. We live in the nation we want God to bless, and he has!. "God Bless America" NOT "ghetto-ized America". sad
Speak English!
Any Clinton supporter who votes for McCain wasn't listening to the stance she had showing the difference between the Repblican agenda and the concerns of the working class. To vote for Mccain due to a woman not getting the nomination is pathetic. We the working class and Americans have suffered under this administration ..so how could anyone endorse 4 more years of the same?

If you don't like the way either one is making decisions, do a write in. You don’t NEED to vote for either of them. If so many people believe that is an American’s duty to vote, then vote, but if you would have voted for Hillary, and not for Obama, but are voting for McCain, then there is something wrong with that. There is nothing he can say he is a “Maverick” about. Nor can Sarah. If you want more Bush, war, lost money, stock market crashes and such, then McCain’s your man.
“I am not Bush, but I have voted in Bush’s favor 90% of the time.” It sounds like McCain is finally admitting that he is going to repeat the Bush years.
