Where's the link that says Obama is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations along with Clinton, McCain and all the rest? The CFR is no friend of the American people.
Our country is facing a recession, the dollar continues to fall, and we are fighting a war with no tangible end. Obama says he is about change...but have you actually looked at his record?
1. The USA is 9 trillion dollars in debt and that the number will only get higher if America accepts Obama's excessive spending.
New Spending Proposed by 2008 Presidential Candidates
CandidateTotal Proposed Spending Increase
(Annual, in Billions)
Clinton: $218.2
Giuliani: -$1.4
Huckabee: $54.2
McCain: $6.9
Obama: $287.0
Paul: -$150.1
Romney: $19.5
Thompson: $56.1
Source: National Taxpayers Union Foundation calculations.
Notice Obama's proposed increase is the most out of any candidate. Source: http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=141
2. Obama voted for the Patriot Act. This is one of the most unconstitutional pieces of legislation that enables the President to spy on Americans, conduct warantless searches, and declare US citizens enemy combatants.
3. Obama claims he was against Iraq from the beginning, yet he voted for extended funding for the war. Is funding the war any different than supporting it?
Source: http://votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=9490
4. Corruption, plain and simple. Obama is #8 on Judicial Watch's 10 most corrupt politicians of 2007. He shares this distinction in the top 10 with Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, Scooter Libby and Hillary Clinton. How did a Junior senator from Illinois get so corrupt so quickly?
Source: http://www.judicialwatch.org/judicial-watch-announces-list-washington-s-ten-most-wanted-corrupt-politicians-2007
Excerpt: A "Dishonorable Mention" last year, Senator Obama moves onto the "ten most wanted" list in 2007. In 2006, it was discovered that Obama was involved in a suspicious real estate deal with an indicted political fundraiser, Antoin "Tony" Rezko. In 2007, more reports surfaced of deeper and suspicious business and political connections It was reported that just two months after he joined the Senate, Obama purchased $50,000 worth of stock in speculative companies whose major investors were his biggest campaign contributors. One of the companies was a biotech concern that benefited from legislation Obama pushed just two weeks after the senator purchased $5,000 of the company's shares. Obama was also nabbed conducting campaign business in his Senate office, a violation of federal law.
Looking at the above, does Obama really represent "change"? Or is this empty rhetoric from another political hack?
You should also do a "REAL reasons NOT to vote for Clinton" submission. It would span several pages easily.
"...and that the number will only get higher if America accepts Obama's excessive spending."
Apparently Anonymous is psychic. He knows that Obama will increase taxes if he's elected! Except that if he's elected, he won't be writing the budgets anymore... I guess he'll veto any budget that isn't big enough.
"How did a Junior senator from Illinois get so corrupt so quickly? Source: http://www.judicialwatch.org/"
http://www.judicialwatch.org/about.shtml
"Judicial Watch, Inc., a conservative, non-partisan educational foundation, promotes transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law."
Ryland,
You haven't refuted a single point. You have simply tried to shift the perception of my points to make them seem biased.
Raising taxes is BAD, especially in the face of a recession. Being corrupt and engaging in unethical activity is BAD, even if the people calling him out for it happen to be "conservative."
Why don't you look critically at your candidate, even if you support him. Almost every obama supporter just mindlessly buys into the "hope/change" rhetoric without asking any questions.
I will vote for Obama if hes up against McCain, but that doesn't mean i'm not going to question him.
A good point well made, Anonymous. Lets not also forget that Obama is a 'true believer' in the fight against drugs, a war which costs Americans their wealth, life and liberty, a war which has been proven unwinnable, much like the war on terror. He is regarded by StopTheDrugWar.org as the least progressive Democratic candidate with regards to drug policy, refusing to even discuss medical marijuana, despite the fact that he confessed to smoking it when he was young.
His fans talk about change, but when you look at his policies instead of his rhetoric, you see that what Obama represents is IDENTICAL to what McCain and Hillary represent: business as usual.
If we weren't spending billions of dollars on a war that shouldn't ever have been fought, I'm sure the social programs and health care plan as proposed by Barack Obama become feasible a lot quicker.
You know, because the cluster bombs that Hillary Clinton voted not to ban cost a whole lot of money.
I'm for Obama, but two of the arguments you present are based upon the opinion of major media outlets that trumpet propaganda. Think for yourselves, don't let them do that to you.
And John Edwards scored above both of them in every category. So what?
I'm not voting for Hillary or Obama. I'm not voting for John McTaint, either.
I'll be writing in John Edwards in November.
First, Bush has driven up the debt more than the Bill Clinton and more than his father, to argue that because Obama wants to take away money and troops from Iraq and disburse it into better areas such as Education and Healthcare that will actually benefit Americans as being bad is just asinine. Obama will raise taxes but not on the middle class or the poor, he will reinstitute taxes that were drastically reduced during the Bush administration, taxes that only benefited the top 10%.
We can all look back on the Patriot Act now and say it was bad, but to say thats a reason not to vote for his is also asinine as every person in the race voted for it. Do you suggest that we just all stay home this election cycle?
As to funding the Iraq war. Obama has made it apparent that he only funded the war because he didnt want to see American troops not have the supplies to fight a war that Bush obviously wasnt going to pull out of. He pushed until the 11th hour many times attempting to get the republicans and Bush to bargain, but it was never successful and the troops needed supplies.
Judicial Watch is a huge conservative crap tank. It is completely biased and doesnt stand to prove anything except that they are conservative. That would be like posting something from the DailyKos against McCain, its just a tinge biased.
In response to the comment about Major US Media outlets. Please do think for yourself and look at outside media coverage and analysis of Obama. Seeing as you are so informed you should see that he is basically viewed as the biggest panderer in the election who will magically fix everything, however never provide any details.
Please do Think for your self and Look at what the rest of the world thinks.
BTW.. I do like Obama.. but i dislike the Obama Supporters (majority of people i know) who cannot articulate any real reason to vote for him.
Lastly, I cannot vote for Obama because I would like not to end up paying 40% Taxes to fund social welfare big government projects.
Obama HAS addresses medical marijuana. He has said that
a) He would not use the federal government to enforce anti-medical marijuana legislation
and b) He is FOR DE-CRIMINALIZING MARIJUANA.

"Obama HAS addresses medical marijuana. He has said that

Wrong, Anonymous. Obama is NOT for decriminalisation. Read:

He has expressed SOME reluctant support for medical marijuana, but still continues to ignore the mounting evidence supporting it's legalisation.

Don't believe the hype.
You people are posting a hell of a lot of articles.
"Barack offers real change"! Yeah, black for white, young for old(er), no-Bush for Bush. In our superficial MTV world, most of the lemmings think this is something substantial.
What I'm hearing here is "Vote for Barrack--he's less corrupt than Clinton!" With regards to Iran, "nothing is off the table." Once again, the media is steering us to a bad candidate, just like it steered us to warin Iraq.

@anonymous / paul hater:
i've read some pretty funny things about what "ron paul" supports (i.e. racism) only to go to the sources and agree with every word he's saying (in the original context).
he spoke against "racial quotas" (which were by definition racist). he also said (with sarcasm) that the abnormally high r
ate of AAs in the jail population in DC is a (poor) reflection of the DC police. newsflash - speaking out against racism is hardly racist, but i guess it's possible if you squint hard enough and ignore everything you've ever seen you might be able to still see some racism there. like if it were stuck to your glasses and you saw it everywhere you looked.
and were you there at the KKK meetings under Ron Paul's hood for the 12 years you claim he was a member? haha.
guess what else? a border always has more than one side. the only effective way to secure it, is from BOTH sides. currently, we give the Mexican gvt. SACKS of money to help with illegal immigration, and they don't hold up their end. What better way can you see to spend the money we're already spending, keep a good number of Mexicans in stable jobs, and actually solve the border issue??
alas, your comment also happens to be the only one mentioning ron paul. maybe one day i'll "grow up" just like you and figure out what a "straw man" is.
==ron paul 2008==
Obama is a good man. He is young and full of "hope." He also speaks eloquently. He is charismatic. He is tall and handsome and full of self confidence.
He also has no economic experience (neither do Hillary or McCain, for that matter). He has no executive management experience to speak of.
I terribly fear for this country. With all the best intentions in the world, I have little confidence in an Obama presidency. We have been through eight devastating years of incompetence under Bush. I don't how we will survive as a nation under another incompetent administration.
I hope I'm wrong. I suspect Obama will be the next president so I certainly hope he turns out to be a good one.
I've been a supporter of an independent presidential bid by New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. Mike has been making noises that could be interpreted as support for Obama. It's looking more and more like Obama is the horse that Mike will back. I don't think Mike is interested in a VP slot.
If Bloomberg does not get in the race, I will give serious consideration to whomever he endorses.
You can learn more about Mike here:

I get really upset every time I see someone write that Obama supporters don't know anything about Obama. This is an unfair generalization. I wouldn't dare make such generalizations about other candidates' supporters.
For the record, I know exactly why I support Barack. Not only have I worked on his campaigns in the past, but I have witnessed his legislative accomplishments, his intelligence as an educator, his passion for his community, and his talent as a leader.
That being said, I have also voted for Sen. Clinton here in NY for Senate. She has let me down on several key votes and in the way she has managed her campaign. However, I would never suggest she is not anything but a smart and hardworking Senator. I'd like to keep her in that position.
Obama is the candidate of a lifetime. You don't pass up someone who with these skills who can create such an amazing coalition of voters who not only want to change Washington but who want to get involved in their own communities to, as Gandhi would say, be the change they wish to see in the world.
Nice blog as for me. I'd like to read something more concerning this matter. Thnx for posting that information.
